The wedding ceremony of Sharon Mendes and Rodger Maslamoney was beautifully modern and at the same time a traditional church wedding. Their church wedding was held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Middle Park. From my experience, most Catholic churches does not offer provision for non-liturgical (contemporary, not religious) songs at weddings but Sharon and Rodger were given permission to choose modern and Christian pop music for their day. At their request, I was able to sing "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts, "From the Inside Out" by Hillsong and some contemporary love songs such as "A Moment like this by Kelly Clarkson and "You're the Inspiration" by Chicago. Even with some modern songs during the ceremony, the focus was not on me as a performer but on the couple and on the songs that have good meaning. It tied perfectly to their religious wedding service. Congratulations Sharon and Rodger! There are many factors that go into music decisions any church will make. If you are planning a Catholic church wedding or religious ceremony, it is best to consult your officiating minister first as what is allowed in terms of music varies among churches in Melbourne. I sing some liturgical or traditional church music. If you need a ceremony singer I am here to help.

Chrisy Sparks and Mat Polley have been together for 27 years before tying the knot on December 9, 2017 celebrating with family and friends.
When I spoke to Chrisy on the phone about her wedding music, I thought they were just having a big old party because she told me there is no program or run-sheet. She said she wants the wedding to feel casual-relaxed - and that informal approach to planning just put me at ease with them too. Their wedding was held at the Brolga Room of Healesville Sanctuary, on a sunny afternoon with lush grass lawns that makes you want play Frisbee and with gum trees around you'd think you are in the bush. I started singing while Chrisy and Mat grabbed a drink and chatted with friends. I saw mainly local Yarra Valley beers and ciders being served, some guests stretching their legs on the expansive lawn and children running around outside. After an upbeat but heartfelt speech from Mat and Chrisy's son Matthew, the couple took the dance floor and I sang "All of me" for their first dance. Songs while dining include the couple's favorites - "From this Moment on", "Love me like you do," "Can't help falling in love," You're the Inspiration" and "Thank You (Dido)." All, in all this was a fun, casual wedding, still done to the nines but with ease. Thank You Chrisy and Mat and family for having me and my husband on your big day! and nice to meet you Sam from De Silva Lining events. I know you had something to do with how cool and blissfully unstructured this wedding was. Most couples fear rain on their wedding day. Understandably, couples worry about the wind, drizzle or downpour that could ruin the wedding but not Stephanie Yeoh and Nicholas Chan. Big storm was forecast in Melbourne on their summer wedding but they chose to embrace the rainy conditions as part of their day. As plan B, we moved inside to the Estella Room in the beautiful Willows building. The wedding ceremony became very cozy with most guests having to stand at the ceremony but all of them happily stood as if they are giving Steph and Nic a hug and embracing them from all corners of the room.
I was invited to sing during the ceremony and afternoon drinks reception. Steph and Nic chose songs such as Fly me to the Moon (Sinatra), At Last (Etta James), Thinking out Loud (Ed Sheeran),Love me like you do (Ellie Goulding) and All about the Bass (Meghan Trainor). They also gave me the freedom to sing these songs depending on the crowd's mood. I'm the Luckiest. wedding singer. ever! Thanks for having me Stephanie and Nic. Congratulations! The Yering Station in Yarra Glen couldn't have been a more stunning wedding backdrop for Hanh Nguyen and Jag Dhillon's wedding last Saturday, 14th October 2017. The couple said "I do" at the round gardens before heading to the main reception hall with amazing views of the Yarra Valley.
I sang 'Marry me' (Train) as Hanh walked down the aisle, 'All of Me' while they sign the register and 'I could not ask for more' as they exit the ceremony grounds. The bride also asked me to be emcee at their dinner reception. Although I do not personally know the couple, I felt really supported with Hanh being flexible about my emceeing ideas. They were a relaxed couple and I had fun singing and emceeing for their special day. Rod and Jovic Ching had their wedding by the Lorne beach front on an unpredictable Thursday afternoon. I thought that rain would definitely pour at the ceremony. The couple was hopeful that the day would clear by the ceremony’s 4:30 p.m. start time - and it did.
We ended up with a gorgeous ceremony. The bride walked down the aisle to me singing 'A Thousand Years.' I sang ' All of Me' as they signed the register and the couple chose 'I love you Always Forever' as their recessional song. During the reception at the View Lorne Hotel, I met such lovely people - my kababayans (fellow countrymen) from the Philippines. Some of the guests are mostly nurses just like Rod and Jovic. They also have parents and family visiting from the Philippines. Thee party was spot on with speeches, to cake cutting ceremony, and Jovic's special dance number choreographed with her girlfriends for her new husband Rod. To say the least it was a long day of celebrations - some games, lots of dancing but most of it lighthearted fun. Congratulations to the lovely couple Rod and Jovic. It was an absolute pleasure singing at your special day! |
